We have consistently been a leader in the independent school market by utilizing the latest in technology to bring practical and proven results to schools nationwide.

Overview

The "Early Years"

Senior Systems was founded in 1992 by R. Russell Alfieri, who at the time had over 10 years experience in the design, development and implementation of integrated administrative systems for large independent schools (K-12) in the New England area. At the outset Russ was joined in this endeavor by George C. Bowker III, who also had many years of experience in this area.

Since its inception, Senior Systems' primary vision has been to supply a truly integrated, single database system for the independent school market. As an important part of this vision, our company focused on providing its clients with the best possible services, including consulting, training, and product support.

In 1993 and 1994, our first new products were released in the New England area with great success – in fact, schools began ordering these products before final completion of the development cycle.

The "Maturing Years"

In 1995, we began nationally marketing our products and services. Our vision of an integrated software solution was immediately accepted and embraced by independent schools across the country. With this success, Senior Systems began its period of high growth.

From 1995 to the present, enhancements and new products have continuously been added to our product line to help meet the growing needs of independent schools across the country. In 2001–2002, we switched to an Oracle database platform, which allowed us to meet these needs and the increasing demands of our clients now and into the future. In 2002–2003, we were an industry pioneer with the introduction of the My BackPack Communities, which are web applications allowing internet access to school data for students, parents, teachers, alumni, and any other interested member of the school community. In 2007, we built the Senior Systems Hosting Solution Center, which provides clients the option of having the software hosted off site.

During this period, we also successfully addressed the issues typically associated with the rapid growth of a company including the formation of a seasoned management team, implementation of proper procedures and controls, and funding for long-term growth and stability.

Today and the Future

We continue to experience high-growth and expanded acceptance of our products, while maintaining our commitment of providing the best possible products along with superior service. Because we constantly strive to address our clients’ needs, we continuously encourage our clients to provide their input into the development and implementation of products. We also address each client’s individual needs, which include customizing our products and services whenever necessary.

Throughout our history we have consistently been and will continue to be a leader in the K-12 independent school market. With our experience and the use of the latest technology, we will bring practical, proven solutions to our current and future clients.

Our heterogeneous clientele are exclusively K-12 private schools located throughout the United States and Canada. This diversity encompasses day schools, boarding schools, boys schools, girls schools, co-ed schools, and religious affiliations including Episcopal, Baptist, Christian, Evangelical, Lutheran, Methodist, Congregational, Presbyterian, Friends, Jewish, and Roman Catholic. In addition, some of our clients have specific programs addressing military, international and learning differences needs. The schools’ sizes range from under 100 students to over 5000, and from single buildings to multiple locations in different states.

Senior Systems’ fully integrated, single database software offers you the freedom and flexibility to enable your data management system to serve your school's precise needs.

The core modules include Admissions, Business Office, Registrar, Alumni/Development, Campus Store and Summer School. They can be purchased to stand alone or can be used as part of our integrated system. In addition, there are over 15 add-on modules that complement the core modules. In combination or alone, these modules meet the current needs of K-12 independent schools.

The web-based My BackPack™ products enhance the suite of application modules. Communities and services include Web Services, Student/Parent, Faculty/Staff, Alumni/Development, Senior Daily Grade Book, Board/Trustee/Friend, Single Sign On, Online Inquiry/Application, Online Enrollment/Reenrollment, and Online Summer School Registration. By adding these products a school can allow access to and editing of its data via the internet.
