The Senior Systems My Backpack Parent Community now allows an option for the parents to view their children’s accounts on-line. This feature offers 3 major components:

Statements

Account Summary

Here that parent can see a quick view of the total due for each child attending the school. They can also combine all accounts to get a grand total. The screen can be configured by the school to display the pieces of information they want the parent to see. Options such as, Current Balance, Over30, Over60, Tuition Balance, Incidental Balance, Enrollment Deposit Balance are just a few of the fields the school can opt to post.

If the school offers Debit Accounts the balance due can be displayed as well and will appear in the lower section of this page.

Account Details

This page allows the parent to look at specific transactions. The page offers four optional tabs Current Charges, Find Transaction, Campus Store and Deferred Charges.

Current Charges

This screen pulls together the beginning balance as of the last statement run for the student and then any transactions (charges or payments) that have occurred since.

Use the Account: drop-down list to toggle between the student Tuition Charge detail and their Debit Account detail:

Find Transactions

Here the school can allow the parent to look at more then just the most recent transactions. For example, using an as-of date, the school can allow the parent to see all transactions that have occurred since June 30, 2006.

Campus Store

If the school has the Senior Systems Campus Store application, they can choose to display the detailed Campus Store transaction to the parent. Just like Find Transactions, the school can determine how far back the parent can look.

Deferred Charges

If your school processes Tuition billing in the deferred mode, you can enable this tab to show the parent what tuition charges will be due in the upcoming months.

Statements

In this page, the parent can view an on-line copy of their statement and any historical statements going back as far as the school wishes them to go. They can print the statement from here as well. In conjunction with this feature, a parent can opt to no longer receive a paper statement, with the understanding that they will use My Backpack to get the total amount due that they are responsible for. After each statement run, the Business Office can generate a blast email to all parents, especially those opting out of paper statements, announcing that the most recent bill has been posted to My Backpack for their review.

The printable version of this statement will be formatted the same as the school’s current printed statement.
